We are a diverse, enthusiastic, innovative group of pollinator-lovers who care about our natural world. We care about the beings in this world, and are working specifically to help one tiny, yet powerful, being: the Monarch Butterfly. While this is where our efforts currently find themselves, we are firm believers in the interconnectedness of lives, and we hope that helping this one pollinator will increase the habitats and lives of all other living beings. It’s often said that the Monarch Butterfly is a “gateway pollinator” and we agree!
Kelly hails from Southeast Louisiana, where she obtained a BS in psychology from Louisiana State University, followed by an M.Ed. in clinical mental health counseling from the University of New Orleans. While working as a career counselor in Iowa, Kelly founded Milkweed Matters. This side gig combined Kelly’s love of environmental education and advocacy, with her skills in community organizing, marketing, and bike riding, and since then, Kelly has turned professionally to conservation. Kelly is currently completing an MS in Environmental Conservation at the University of Wisconsin-Madison Nelson Institute.
